As an English professor and writing center tutor, I answered questions ranging from “How long can my thesis be?” to “Do I really need a thesis?”
The short answer is Yes. Your thesis is a short(ish) statement that quickly and specifically explains the argument you will support for the duration of your paper.
Without a thesis, how will anyone (including you!) know the point of your paper?
If that definition still seem too vague, and a little impossible, don’t worry. You are in good company.
